After a good night’s sleep in Marrakesh, we left this morning for the city of Ouarzazate in the Drâa-Tafilalet region of south-central Morocco.

RedTail Spirit Singers member, Akawui, taking in the views.

This leg of the trip took us through rugged landscape and breathtaking views of the High Atlas Mountains.

During one of our stops, the members of RedTail Spirit Singers performed a song and a round dance.

All that fresh air stimulates the appetite!

Couscous, a Berber dish from the Maghreb, is made from durum wheat semolina. It is known as ‘the North Africa national dish’.
Tizi n’Tichka is a mountain pass linking the south-east of Marrakesh
to the city of Ouarzazate through the High Atlas mountains.

After crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass, we finally arrived at Ouarzazate (also nicknamed the door of the desert) where we will spend the night.

Tomorrow we will reach our final destination: M’Hamid El Ghizlane, a small oasis town with about 7,500 inhabitants where RedTail Spirit Singers will participate in a 5-day musical residency with nomadic musicians Generation Taragalte.

The Journey continues!
